HSBC SA IB Assessment Test?

Has anyone taken the HSBC online Assessment Test for SA IB yet? I have just taken it last night and wanted to see when I would be able to know if I got put through to the next round. Also has anyone had the phone interview yet? Is it mostly behavioral questions?

They take a while to process it - I think the first one is to see if you're a cultural fit at HSBC. After you pass the first one, they'll send you a link to complete another assessment.

As for the phone interview, it's very behavioral, so just make sure you know your story! I just got an offer for a SA position at HSBC, so PM me if you have any other questions.

Is this for Asia or US? When I applied, I was given the logical reasoning and situational reasoning (or something along those lines) test. Wasn't too hard but I'd recommend jobtestprep.co.uk for people applying to UK or Asia SA or FT. Almost every bank uses some combination of logical, numerical and situational reasoning tests.

Gimme the loot

I took it last year. So it may have changed, but this was my experience.

First, they gave me practice problems and unlimited attempts with the explicit purpose of showing me what the actual assessment would be like. The practice problems were easy.

The actual timed, no-going-back version was the exact same stuff. However, I found that it started out easy but got almost impossibly challenging at the end. Consequently, time became a factor. I, personally, spent too much double checking my answers for the first problems.

Ultimately, like they say on standardized tests: work through it accurately but quickly. But do not be deceived by how easy the practice and first problem sets are; that was my mistake.

"A modest man, with much to be modest about"

I have taken it. The tests consists of a SJT and an Inductive Reasoning Test. The SJT was a little bit strange but the reasoning test was pure fun. I believe most of the applicants pass these tests. They serve more as a way of cutting applicants that are not serious. For HSBC, I believe most weight is put on how effectively you communicate your story in the application form, (the four capability questions).

This is for UK.

I got a superday invite for the 24th in HK, declined it though. Had first round phone call about 2 weeks before that.

The test has cultural fit assessment through situational questions as well as reasoning through a pattern recognition test.

Don't assume anything. HSBC takes a lot of time to assess all applications since every applicant that passed the minimum benchmark is looked at and graded based on the quality of their application.

May I ask you two questions? 1) Why did you apply in mid-november? 2) Why are you so impatient? It's only been 10 days, geez!

Don't loose hope mate, as long as you had a decent application you're still in the game.
