What are you going to do when you have an interview and they ask about your internship experience?

The situation is very different for consulting vs banking. 1. Most banks will over hire interns compared to their full time needs by 30 percent and then take the best 70 percent for full time. But, with the poor economy that number will probably be closer to 50 percent. How does it make sense to give guaranteed offers to 50 percent of the class that would be redundant? Comparatively consulting firms under hire by a good amount so that the majority of their class comes in through full time recruiting (the banks that do full time hiring do very little). Consulting firms would just decrease full time slots accordingly without need for redundant employees.

Lol it's half half at my bank. Some kids are sitting on their dick all day and other are having an existential crisis about if they really wanna do banking ft. Unfortunatly I'm in the latter :')

Yeah, gaining your analyst's trust is a blessing and a curse lol. I'm actually so glad the internship is cut short- this fucking blows ass

Yeah it really sucks but at the same time it's exactly what I signed up for. 2 years of pain for a really great learning experience and exit opps- keep your eyes on the prize and stay strong brother

Can't say I'm surprised. Delegating work to interns is difficult to begin with - they're mostly a negative value-add. You can really only trust them with the menial tasks that you don't have time for, and it takes until mid-summer for them to really get the hang of it / stop making mistakes.

Now internships are shortened and 100% virtual. It's almost impossible to build rapport, start trusting their work, "swing by" to discuss a project or have any idea what they're working on.

I'd recommend that whenever you're given a task just crush it - do it quickly, make no mistakes, and ask how you can help next. Better yet - start to think about what the next steps would be, and offer to help with those. It's easier for people to say "yes, do that" than it is to think of ways you can help and schedule a zoom meeting to explain them to you

Lol I fucking wish. I’m doing back breaking work researching public and private companies in my sector and building presentations. I’m damn near seeing the cap iq home screen when I close my eyes....annddd I’ve yet to see my first check hit my account lmao

At an investment firm and my internship is fucking dead. I rode it out for first couple weeks but I’m bored shitless right now. I asked them if there was anything going on that I could do substantial work on and they pretty much told me deal flow is fucked. I just speed through the bs assignments and hop back on the PS4. It’s nice to get paid for what I’ve been doing since I got my 2021 offer, but I’m tired of this virus shit. Someone make a fucking vaccine!

I'm lucky that I get to go into my office, but still not a ton to do. Mostly just administrative work and a bit of modeling. Gets pretty boring during the day and I just go on my phone or browse WSO and whatnot.

Seems like virtual internships are extremely hit or miss. Some days I literally do nothing, other days, like today, I'm jammed. Granted I'm doing a directly finance-related internship, but I'm getting paid a decent amount to work for a Fortune 100 company and I'm very grateful for the experience.

the worst is when an intern fucks up a simple task then asks quote "can i get some more intellectual work". god no, especially when you cant meet deadlines for mindless deliverables

i have interns that attend top ivy league schools and i went to a non-target. now i feel like i was a damn genius when i was an intern

What concert costs 45 cents? 50 Cent feat. Nickelback.
