If you do a search... you'll find that most people say that a decision/view on you is made before you can go home and send them a note. Consensus is a thank you note doesn't do anything.
If you do send one - I think 1 (2 max) day after the interview is the time frame for it.
If you're sending an email now - it would be a follow-up email, not a thank you note. Something like "It was great meeting with you and the team on Monday... I wanted to follow up on next steps/interview process..."
Shoot them a questions so as pointed above its a follow up. Tendency is, its too late now for a thank you note, I think maximum should be 3 days. Now its a good time though to continue your dialogue, but in a meaningful way, so dont write annoying questions you can easily find out yourself.
It's funny. People always say do a thank you note right away, and I can see that, but I like sending one out two or three days later. Keeps them thinking about you as a candidate and reminds them a couple days later.

Yup, this can be a better way to go in most instances...
OK makes more sense. The decision was made based on your interview, not the thank you note that was sent. I have had great reactions from MD's I interviewed with at a Super Day and gotten dinged and I have also had no response from interviewers and have gotten the offer. I think a response is based more on what the interview has going on and how busy they are when they receive your thank you note. Sit back and relax, it is completely out of your hands now.
