I have a confession to make
I have absolutely no idea how to use excel. At all. I know how to open it and I know if you drag down the cells it copies the pattern. That is all I know. I have been successfully winging it.
Now I would continue to do so but I’ve been lying in interviews I know how to model, VBA and learning Python (I don’t even know what this is). Can anyone point me to resources to learn excel? Are the WSO modeling courses worth it? I’m willing to purchase courses. Thanks!
Found the guy that hard codes all your models.
On another note: just practice. Plenty of free tutorials and learning materials out there. Youtube has unlimited knowledge - no need to pay for anything.
Print out a excel shortcut cheat sheet. Can just google one for free. Make it a habit to only use your keyboard when on excel. It will take you forever to finish task this way at first but soon it will all just become muscle memory and you’ll be a pro
More reps, more learning
As others above have said: practice, practice, practice. Look up excel shortcuts on this lovely platform, google, etc and also familiarize yourself with some basic formulas (i.e. vlookup, index-match, xlookup, sumifs, subtotal, among others).
Title checks out.
Start eating ass
No worries man, I kinda sucked ass too. No need to feel intimidated, a monkey can do the job if you can reach them excel. It’s really not that bad.
wall street prep excel course is decent and costs like $30-40. Goes over quite a bit and is well-structured
