If you get your MD to bring you stuff, it's probably because you're so fucked that even they can see it from the rarefied tower in which they reside.

First Time: We are cranking out an RFP with a deadline, a week of in office till 3:00 or 4:00, back in my seat at 7:30, fucking crushing it. Around 3 or 4, MD comes by and asks if I've actually left my desk that morning. Something about my bloodshot eyes when I said that I'd actually gotten up for coffee around 10 made a point, dude went down to the shop and got me a sandwich, a chocolate bar and a bottle of water, dropped it off and said to keep up the good work.

Second time, different MD: Right after bonuses we had a raft of A&As leave and those of us left were getting hammered (damn deferred bonus scheme). MD comes in with coffee and snacks for everyone left in the team.

So yeah, you can get stuff from MDs, but it means you're already fucked.

Not even. He got up from his desk and said he was going to get some coffee. I handed him my mug without saying a word. He took it, and came back with a nice steaming cup of Joe.

Thanks, let me know if you ever need an introduction in the industry.
