Good luck. I transferred from a non/semi target to Vanderbilt, lots of fun there and lots of friends got MBB and bulges. Made it to a good group myself. Don’t just look at prestige, go to good a school and somewhere you can grow as a person. If you’re motivated you can make it to NYC IB from most decent schools.
Funny - I was also a transfer into Vanderbilt from a complete non-target and ended up at an industry-focused MM in a T2/T3 city.
OP - generally, I’d say it worth it to transfer for significant marginal improvements. I think Emory places well enough on its own to the point where it would be more beneficial to spend the time you’d use preparing to transfer as IB recruiting prep.

Well Emory is not a non-target at all. It is already at Vandy level honestly if not slightly better for finance so I'm not sure if your experience is transferable
Vandy is a Semi, and Emory is a bit higher.

Wow that was painful to read. I think this alum is scapegoating Emory. Recruiting is definitely not that bad, but could be better.
FWIW, I didn’t read the entire post in that link but it sounded like he was only speaking about the Emory career center, not Goizueta.
Emory (“the college”) and Goizueta are two very different things. The college career center is full of academics and administrators who moonlight as career service people. The Goizueta career center is rock solid. The finance ecosystem is particularly strong with well organized finance groups that really want students to place well. That being said, that’s only if you’re in the B-School (or as a underclassmen, applying to the B-School).
I can’t speak to other schools’ placements, but kids from Goizueta placed pretty well across IB when I was there (EB, BB, MM). Maybe that’s changed though.
There’s always a bit of luck with recruiting to an extent, but if you don’t get an offer from somewhere, then I’d say that’s more a function of your recruiting ability than the B-school’s career center.
Obviously I’m biased as an alum, but just my $.02. I absolutely think you could be successful at Goizueta, but I acknowledge Ivies could give you a marginal benefit for recruiting and potentially long term alumni benefits.
Don't listen to that thread at all. Emory recruiting is very solid and has only gotten better over the years. I mean you can look at tier lists from past years to now to see the jump. There will always be people who are dissatisfied but Emory is very good. Transferring is 100% your call.
If you enjoy your Emory experience you will gain nothing from transferring.
Emory places well so only reason to move is if you don't think you have what it takes to work hard and earn your spot.
People love talking about target schools but always leave out the direct competition with your peers for a handful of spots. And having seen multiple recruitment cycles non-target students tend to outperform on the job imho.
Just stay at Emory and work hard. For a freshman you already seem well-positioned and thoughtful in your planning. If you can get those internships and progress in your campus involvements, you will be in a great spot. Happy to talk more over dm - Emory soph

Emory is a great school, unless you're unahppy there, you should be more than fine getting an IB job with that resume
Emory alum here. I had no problems with recruiting, overall I loved Emory socially and career wise. The only kids I heard of having problems were those at ox. The 2 year commitment is a serious disadvantage when recruiting. Unless you fall into the special circumstance of studying at ox, transferring will serve only a minor benefit. My dms are always open, I am currently at a small hedge fund. Lmk if you need some advice.
