IB at GHL vs ER at GS

I want to do investment banking more but I know that GS is kind of a nice stamp for my resume...I'm currently being considered for GS but I have an offer for IB at a boutique. What should I consider before I decide?

GHL without a doubt. If you want IBD, summer in IBD. GS's internal mobility program is pretty much a joke. If you're at a target school, it's much easier to just reach out to IBD contacts at GS and recruit independently at the end of the summer than to try going through the internal mobility program.

Also, GS ER is not very good. You'll look better fresh out of Greenhill's program.

Dude. Work at GHL IBD over GS any day. If you want PE, they go to bat for their analysts and every guy I know there placed very well out of NY. Whereas their counterparts at GS had to recruit in secret at the risk of being fired. Still placed well but no better than GHL. If you want to stay in banking, GHL pays more. If all you're looking for is the GS name so that you can whisper "I work at Goldman Sachs" as you cry yourself to sleep, then I can't help you.

Regardless, they are both quality opportunities. You're doing something right!
