Which firms have the policy where networking won't help in recruiting? I've heard for some of these firms, they ding you if you reach out to an analyst. I've heard this about CVP and JPM so far. Is it actually true? Any other firms?

Untrue for CVP. You can still network for JPM its just such a black box and HR controlled its hard to tell. The only one with a hard stance against networking is MKlein. Afaik its because the pedigree of the analyst is one of the many selling points Klein sells to clients.
So can kids from target schools still network with klein employees?
No they must do it through MKlein sanctioned coffee chats. Majority of the people at MKlein arent even allowed to display where they work.
Not sure what you mean about Centerview, the firm presentation from CVP at my school straight up included the names and emails of every alum who works there
Not true at all about JPM and CVP, anyone who gets offers there networked extensively
