IB Informational Interview

Hey Everyone,

I'm starting the good ol networking process for summer associate internships in IB. Little bit of background on me, I was previously a long/short equity analyst at a hedge fund in South Africa for 4 years. Moved over to London to start the masters in finance (MiF) at London business School. Now looking to transition into IB from the buy-side. I know its not very common to go from buy-side to sell-side, but I am very interested in working on transactions and getting more involved in the M&A process than just simply writing equity research reports.

I have reached out to a few bankers to meet for a coffee chat, but generally they ask me to send questions over email about banking or the bank they work for instead. Obviously time is a commodity for them, but should I ask them for alternative times later when they aren't as busy to meet up? Given an email isn't really effective for networking purposes.

Any thoughts would be super appreciated.
