IB Intern -> CorpFin -> IB

Yeah I know, weird title. However, I am in need of some insight.

Currently a sophomore at a non-target and I have been doing a part-time IB internship at a local boutique for the past few months. I landed a F500 CorpFin gig for summer 2021 at a company that really excites me. As you can imagine, I am also recruiting for Summer 2022 roles and wanted to make sure I wouldn’t raise any eyebrows with my trajectory on my profile and resume.

I have a ton of IB experience already and would have stayed with the firm for the summer if their compliance allowed. I didn’t want nothing lined up for this summer and wanted to explore a bit more and learn about this one company and it’s industry, which I am very interested in.

I thought of a few ways to explain why I took the route I did and mention that I wanted to learn about this industry, but also learn more about the inner financial working of a business.

How would you explain my situation if in my position? Will this be looked at badly during recruiting?

Thanks for the help!
