IB MBA Associate career earnings

Found out about IB late and probably won't get a full-time offer in this environment. Looking to set up for a lateral but if that doesn't work out I'll be doing my MBA to break in.

Am wondering how much this will set me back earnings wise in my career? I know people say a career is a marathon not a sprint, but the people who break in out of undergrad definitely have a leg up if they can save their bonus and then go to PE. Also, from reading this forum it seems that PE wouldn't be an option for me anymore so I would have to either try to make VP or move to a lower paying career?

It's crazy to me how much potential earnings and jobs seemingly go out the window just because I wasn't aware IB existed until the end of my undergrad...
