IB Private Placement: Confused about what they do and how they do it

See a job posting for a Private Placement Debt Analyst. Not really sure what the job entails or how it fits in to the larger picture of finance/banking. Description reads:

  • Track current market, industry, and company activity;
  • Perform in-depth financial statement reviews, financial modeling and analyze comparable companies;
  • Conduct client due diligence and identify significant company, industry and market trends;
  • Draft client pitches and investor relationship presentations;
  • Prepare comprehensive offering memoranda and roadshow presentations;
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the institutional debt markets and the capital raising process;
  • Interact with buy-side institutional investors in marketing the deal
  • Coordinate with professionals throughout the organization and communicate effectively with clients and institutional investors

What is the pay, what is the prestige, what are the exits, etc. What exactly would I be doing, explain like I'm 5.
