IB SA Training Week

Just started training for IB SA and was wondering how much if it you will actually be doing as an intern? The material seems more advanced than they would expect of an intern… many seemed quite lost and the instructor was moving quickly. Any advice?

What were you lost on? Also the intern training is often from an external provider and may not match up with what you're actually doing

You should be comfortable with the 3 financial statements, understand that a balance sheet should balance, and have some grasp of how to use Excel. Realistically most interns won't do much if any real modeling. You might update a forecast or work on your intern project model, but a lot of the excel work will be in secondary backup Excels - comps, benchmarking, or misc charts. You will be trained on these, and given plenty of time to do/learn them.

Biggest tip is to spend a few min working through whatever issues you run into, and then ask your intern group before asking a FT unless the FT is sitting with you watching you - not that any questions are bad, but "why isn't my index match working" is likely something your intern class can help with.

Does it affect the return offer if we do poorly on the quiz / tranining test that the vendor gives us
