IB Staffings and Buyside Offer

Does the fact that the staffer knows I have a buyside offer play into the staffings? Been passed up on two solid staffings in the vertical I have expressed interest in multiple times. I'm wondering if they're keeping the cool shit for the analysts they think will stay on and are just giving me dirt since they know I'm dipping. Honestly thinking about leaving earlier given I'm not learning at the rate I want to be. 1st year btw.

I was a staffer for 2 years in my team - if you've chosen to leave the team then of course I'd give the best and most interesting staffings to those committed (it's a strong word in this industry but you've set the bar very low by having the staffer know that you have a buyside offer) to the team. My role is to improve the quality of talent in the team and give those who will be in the team longer the best opportunities to learn. Another part of the role is to help seniors manage their dealflow, and that comes with ensuring continuity. No one wants to spend time getting a new junior up to speed because the old one left.

I am almost a bit surprised that this isn't obvious

How did you get a buyside offer that starts so soon, after your first analyst year?
