IBD - New Locations in UK
Hello,
Recently came across some boutiques in the UK, significantly outside of London - in Manchester for example. I knew this was more apparent in the USA that many boutique firms existed outside of the large IBD hub(s), but didn't expect it to be the case here.
My questions about this are as follows:
- How do I go about finding more of these boutique(s) and different locations across the UK? (Using LinkedIn currently).
- How long has this been going on for (expansion into Manchester + other locations), and how will this reflect in the future - is it continuously growing or a relatively small niche?
- Finally - assuming it will be, but will lateralling into EB/BB be possible?

Birmingham is another location. Rothschild and Co, Alantra and Clearwater are there I believe.
Deutsche Bank is there too. It's not surprising as Birmingham is the 2nd biggest city in the UK.
I'm surprised that Manchester has got some coverage as it is significantly further north.
Yes DB are there too. Goldman Sachs will be establishing a more permanent office in Birmingham too but that is more for their middle office functions. It’s definitely growing and there’s been a lot of investment in infrastructure in Birmingham.
Houlihan Lokey has an office in Manchester that came from the acquisition of GCA. Rothschild has an office in Leeds.
