If you could have a ChatGPT-style AI assistant in your IB role, what tasks would you want it to handle?

I'm in my final year of a CS major and I'm tinkering with a pretty neat project. It's all about blending AI, specifically those brainy language models like GPT, with the nuts and bolts of investment banking. My internship in IB gave me a taste of the basics - comps, write-ups, and a bit of PowerPoint - but now I'm thinking bigger.
I'm particularly fascinated with how AI could play a role in M&A and restructuring areas because i was interested in them for FT. So, here's my burning question for all you finance wizards out there:
If you could have a ChatGPT-style AI assistant in your IB role, what tasks would you want it to handle?
Think about those daily grind tasks or complex analyses that could use an AI touch. I'm all ears for ideas, especially the out-of-the-box kind!
Here's where I'm at:
- 10-Q/K Summaries: Can AI digest these reports and spit out a decent summary? Or even better, make sense of the latest earnings call transcripts?
- Number Crunching: I'm skeptical about AI nailing the numbers game right out of the gate, but hey, worth a shot, right?
- Trend Analysis: What if we could ask the AI about key changes between financial periods? That could be neat.
I'm hitting a bit of a wall with the whole PowerPoint thing. I know some AIs can whip up logos, but full-blown PPTs seem like a stretch
So, what do you guys think? Any cool ideas on what else AI could do in the IB world, sticking to text and numbers? Keen to hear your thoughts and maybe even some wild ideas!
Quick update on the project approach - I'm not just sticking to one AI model. I'm planning to experiment with a bunch of different ones to see which might be the best fit. We're talking about models like Claude 2, Geminu from Google, and others. Plus, I'm looking into customizing these bad boys with some fine-tuning and templating to really tailor them for IB-specific tasks. So, any suggestions you have might be tested across multiple AI platforms!
Slide creation and company profile writing would be neat. Any other area that requires thinking would turn garbage if you use ChatGPT.
Thanks, I appreciate it. I agree, especially since 10-Ks can be up to 120 pages, making it difficult for the model to stay focused on. I'm trying to test models other than ChatGPT, like those from Anthropic and see ifs better
Have you tried making your own GPT in chatgpt? I don’t have any coding experience so I’m not sure how it would compare to what you’re trying to do. It’s pretty good though. I made a finance tutor for IB/PE interviews
