Incoming LevFin Analyst at a BB (GS/JPM/MS)

Incoming LevFin analyst at a BB (one of the 3).

I’m really interested in getting into distressed debt/HF activist strategies. I’ve heard a lot about LF which has me a bit confused. A lot of respect for the group, but then a lot of banter regarding how across some banks the LF team doesn’t run the model and is more markets based. My internship experience was pretty intense and honestly I learned a lot. Typical day was 7AM - 12/1AM but I felt like the stuff we got to touch was really interesting. Got to see a workout situation, worked with models on a debt issuance + m&a, actively was being taught what drove some of our clients to distress, and learned a lot about the LBO process and committed financing.

Just curious on exit opportunities to the interests I’ve expressed above. I’ve seen quite a few exit from LF at the BB I’m going to into vanilla PE and debt investing. But, would love to hear some other opinions from people with relevant experience on here where they can get a bit more personal.

Thanks y’all!

Also incoming LevFin at one of the three. Have been told if I want to do distressed it is better to try to lateral to Rx for a year or two before doing so. Simply too many Rx kids with truly better experience to justify hiring someone like you or I from what I understand.
