ING OFF CYCLE INTERNSHIP - M&A
Hi everyone!
Can somebody please elaborate on their internship interview experience with ING? ( London office )
What kind of questions are asked in the technicals?
That would be really helpful!

Hope that helps.
From what I remember, the technicals were steps in a DCF (including how to calculate WACC) and LBO. I can't remember the other questions but I remember the interviewer did pick up on my experiences and asked me about an industry on my CV that I had prior exposure to.
thanks a lot! Pls let me know other type of questions if you are able to recollect :)
Hey mate, how long after the superday did you hear back?
Which office is this for?
London office
Interviewed at ING last year (Amsterdam office). Questions were mainly focused on valuation, so multiples, DCF etc, and the general approach of an M&A transaction. Also lot’s of behavioural questions and stuff like, why ING, why this team, why not firm XYZ.
okay I see, thanks a lot! I dont have in depth knowledge of LBO yet. You think that would be an issue? What kind of questions i can expect from LBO?
I also didn’t really have any knowledge of LBOs. So I quickly indicated that I didn’t have much experience with them (but understood the general idea) but I did know the other valuation techniques; comparable company analysis, precedent transaction analysis and DCF. After that they only asked about those and no LBO questions. But if you still have the time, I would try to prepare for LBO questions. Maybe I was just lucky
oh nice! Thank you so much! Great help! Lastly, can you pls guide as to how i should approach the question -- "why ING?" What are the key aspects I should definitely mention?
