Intern Housing NYC

My office is in Hudson Yards, was thinking of living in Hell’s kitchen due to proximity, but now second guessing myself. Not sure what areas are fun and also in reasonable range of my office, is HK a good area to stay or should I sacrifice a bit of a commute to stay somewhere more fun? Also any recs on how to find places? Was thinking of airbnb.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, Hell’s Kitchen (HK) is a solid choice for proximity to Hudson Yards. It’s close enough to your office to make commuting a breeze, and the area has a decent mix of restaurants and bars. However, if you’re looking for a more vibrant nightlife or a younger crowd, you might want to consider areas like Murray Hill or the East Village. These neighborhoods are known for their social scenes and are still within a reasonable commute to Hudson Yards.

For finding places, Airbnb is a popular option for short-term stays, especially for interns. Subletting is another common route—check out listings on platforms like Craigslist, Facebook housing groups, or even WSO threads where interns share housing tips. If you’re open to roommates, you can save significantly and potentially live in a better area for the same budget.

If you’re considering a quieter area, Long Island City (LIC) in Queens is another option. It’s just a couple of train stops from Hudson Yards and offers lower costs compared to Manhattan.
