Internship end date conflicts with my Football camp start date?

Hi everyone,

I play varsity football at my university, and our coach notified us that our football report date would be either the first or second week of August. My summer analyst position at a BB is expected to go past this date.

Is this something I notify HR about or the group I'm working in? Will this affect my chances at a return offer?

Any advice is appreciated.

I'm not sure if this is possible... We have only three weeks to prepare for the season and a lot of that involves protocol regarding building up to full pads and installing the playbook/schemes. I'm sure I could push back 1-2 days, but doubt it'd be more than that without me sacrificing my position. I'd be missing a week of the internship at most.

The real question you have to ask yourself is 'am I going to be in the NFL?' Once you've answered 'no' you can go ahead and stick around for your IB internship. If your coach won't let you miss a week to set yourself up for a strong career, he probably thinks a lot more about his program than his players - that is fine. However, you need to think a lot more about yourself. I'd only raise the issue with analysts IN THAT GROUP who were varsity athletes. You might get some NARP group head who hates football and all of a sudden there is zero chance of a return offer.
