Summer after Sophomore year or Junior year?

I really hate to say it, but unless the PWM experience is really strong (we're talking BB or something on the order of Northern Trust in Chicago or NYC or Edward Jones in St. Louis or NYC), it will be difficult to translate that into an FT Banking offer straight out of school. You may have to spend a few years at an intermediate job in industry.

If you're in a top ten Accy firm (IE: Crowe-Chizek, RSM McGladrey) and you have an otherwise strong background, you can definitely parlay that into a middle-office role. There's no shame in it- I was hired into middle office straight out of school and moved to the front office after a year or two.

If I may ask, how many profs like you, how are your grades, and what do you think about getting a Master's? That's a third avenue you may not be considering, and if you can get into a good program at a target, you'll be set.

Friends goes to a semi/non target and had a PWM internship last summer- just got an offer from a top BB firm. You need to contact alumni. Start early- I recommend sending a hand written cover letter, resume, and some financial modeling work. Fed Ex the finished package
