Hi everyone,
Apologize in advance if this is a dumb question, but I just got invited to a superday in another city and they asked me to call their travel office to make arrangements, but it would be a lot simpler for me to arrange it on my own - is it weird to call back and tell them that? Would they say:
a) "that's a mature attitude, he's serious, and is saving us money" b) "that's weird, who does that, must be a weirdo" c) "we don't give a fuck"

The real question is why would you want to pay for it?
arranging via travel office is actually pretty simple.. call and try. they asked you to do so.
if you think saving them ~100-300 bucks will give you a leg up, you're wrong
they have a budget and honestly dont care if they use it or not.. your not saving anyone money since they already cut a budget for it

Just call and book it. Booking it yourself just makes more work for everyone involved.
While you're at it, try to get their travel office to credit the miles to your FF account.
Why would you do this.
its a lot simpler to have them arrange it, you tell them the times and destinations they send your confirmation. you go to the airport and check inn. how much simpler can it be.
make sure to ask for a private jet. First class on a commercial flight is very passé.
