Interview: Where do you want to be in 10 years?

I am preparing for interviews and I have heard this type of question is not uncommon. I have heard many different opinions about it and I am curious what people in the industry expect from candidates when asked this question or a similar one. I have heard some people say they want to be in management for the same firm they are interviewing for, and some be honest and say they want to exit to the buy-side or pivot to a different career. I have also heard people say not to say both of these things. What are your thoughts?
