Interviews with MDs
I know there’s past threads about this, but hoping to hear about more recent experiences. Any tips on impressing in interviews with MDs? Anyone know what they’re really looking for in candidates? How so stand out? Thanks in advance.
If you're recruiting for a specific role, then genuin enthusiasm for the work/product goes a long way
Got it. Appreciate the advice brotha. This interview is for a 1st year analyst role and it will be with a few MDs.
Have an interview with 2 MDs as a part of a superday for 2024 IB SA position. what should i do to stand out to them? I’m assuming genuine enthusiasm, hard work, and being normal are the biggest factors?
Interviewed this summer with a couple of MDs at BBs and EBs for summer internships. Their questions were mostly motivational and situational and what impressed them most (based on feedback I got) was self-reflection. They appreciated I put in some genuine thought before and was able to reply to their questions in an honest and thoughtful way that showed I think about lessons from the past and know how what I REALLY want. (Not just some steep learning curve, fast paced environment BS)
Thank you. That’s very helpful. Do you remember any examples of the situational questions?
I didn’t get the standard tell me about a time… it was more like a conversation on my past experiences tied to single bullets on my CV where they asked me what I did, what I learned, what I would do differently, added hypotheticals…
