Investment Banking age
Hi Champs,
I’ll be starting my masters program this year, to break into banking, and hopefully secure a Summer Internship for next year fall. But I wanted to know, is 25 too old for an incoming first year analyst. I’m 24 now.
Looking forward to your insights, and thanks in advance 😄
Hi,I am from France and I am about to do my summer internship in London. I am 25 (about to turn 26) and I just finished my master. Lots of my friends just finished their studies and between are 24 and 26.Take your time, in 15y it will not matter whether you did your SA at 21 or 25 honestly. Just do it and enjoy the experience.
Hi,
This is a relief tbh, thankyou so much for the insight, it means a ton!.
This is just another question I had in mind :
So if I am doing master's this year, Fall 2022, will I be eligible to apply for Summer internships next year? Or should I apply to Grad Schemes?
Since you plan on doing a MBA, shouldn’t you be an associate then?
Hi,
Sorry I didn't specify clearly. I will pursue Masters in Finance and Business this fall
I am 31 and a 3rd year associate(the same age you will be when you become 3rd year associate). I tell myself the same thing very often..too old etc. Your self doubt is someone else's gain. Don't be so hard on yourself. You are hired to do banking and as long as you do that right, it’s all that matters.
Tell that to Singaporeans or Koreans who have to serve national service (2 years+) full time.
I've met 30 year old year 1 analysts and they're doing fine. Run your own race, as long as you're likeable and willing to work hard, you should be fine.
Yeah hurts to see such posts, when we only get to start freshman year at 22-23 years old
i was 24 when i started A1 FT
I’m a first year analyst who’s 24 so not much of a difference
Hdhdhd
I am Korean and due to the mandatory military service I'm starting at 24 FT. Don't worry about your age just focus on your product
I pivoted from consulting to banking. I’m a second year analyst at 27. Sure it dings your ego a bit, but you’re not alone. When I was interviewing I spoke with a manager from PwC that was hired on at a strong MM IB as an analyst. You just gotta stay humble and don’t let it get to you’re head. You’re in IB! That in and of itself is a blessing. You go at your own pace and no two backgrounds are the same. Don’t sweat it.
