Investment Banking Chances

I'm a current rising sophomore attending an Ivy League (target) double majoring in STEM. Currently I have a stacked resume with private equity experience and a regional IB internship this summer at a small shop. My expected GPA by the time I recruit may be around a 3.7 which is concerning me.

With a strong resume, and a lot of leadership positions with tangible impacts made that are quantifiable, what are my chances of breaking into a BB/EB? I’m really aiming for a firm like Evercore/Guggenheim, is this realistic? Some background reference, I am also Hispanic but idk if that'll play a major role.

You're diversity so take advantage of all the diversity programs available to you. A 3.7 and diverse is fine as long as you still put in the work.

When you say "stacked with private equity experience" what exactly do you mean? Are they legit funds or shitty search funds? Did you do one, two, maybe four over the course of your freshman year? It's hard to speak on your chances when you're being so vague with your experiences. Though I have no doubt you'll do just fine in recruiting.

here are some thoughts from someone that just recently recruited IB with the same “stacked” profile as yours minus diversity and a higher gpa

1) drop the ego ur not gods gift to earth because u have a stacked resume - there are 100s of other kids with the same exact stacked resume but even better gpas

2) networking matters more than ur internships if imma be quite frank i had legit funds + banks on my resume but networking was the defining factor after u get 2+

3) use ur diversity card to ur advantage if you cant get into diversity programs thats on you

overall ur fine just focus on networking dropping the ego and being personable
