Investment Banking Salaries in Singapore

Does anyone have any information on the compensation packages offered by BBs and EBs in Singapore up till the VP level? What are bonuses like and how do they compare to the rest of Asia?

First year analysts at BBs and EBs should be around SGD 10k/month base.

Base pay is a couple of thousands higher now given 2020-2022 revisions

Most Helpful

1. If the US were so shit why are people from all over the world trying to move here

2. $500M deal here would be in MM territory, $500M deal over there would be sizeable even for a BB

3. If he's Singaporean he can always go back there, not so easy to do it the other way around. Probably better exit ops from being a banker here than from being a banker in Singapore too.

Can’t speak to EBs but BBs will generally pay you the same total comp as what you’d get in NYC (pre-tax). Starting base comp for Analyst 1s are currently around US$100k (bonus 6-12months although dependent on individual bank performance). AS1s are around US$150-175k base.

Also you would work on smaller transactions than in the US, but more interesting landscape imo. And you get to be in a growth seat.

I’d also argue that it’s easier to move from NYC -> SG up to the Associate level. Thereafter it flips around and gets much more difficult to make the transition since (1) you’d lack regional knowledge and (2) be too expensive by then for someone to train.

To the last point, what advice would you give for someone trying to do a few years in SG later on in their career? I'm a CB associate at the moment and would like to get out there but realistically know it'll be tough to do before I make VP, I'm a US citizen and don't have any regional financial or markets knowledge but do have familiarity with the area's economy and geopolitics from a previous career, also cover an industry which is relevant in Singapore.

Best bet would be to move within your CB - ask HR or your manager for an office change. If you're at a bank with global presence, that should be on the cards.

Would you say the same for someone from SG looking to work in NYC? That its gets harder as you become more senior?
