I think you have to accept the very real possibility they contacted you by accident.

That said, if they're willing to cover the cost of flight and other items, I'd say go for it. Interview experience is very valuable and hell, maybe you'll get the job! haha but seriously, make sure you have a good story if they ask why you didn't speak up earlier about the peculiarity of the situation.

Semi related: do you have a very common name or something that could have gotten mixed up?

Nope, my name is not a generic name haha! There are maybe four or three ppl of my exact name in the US. I mean, I'm not a bad candidate by any means. I'm at a semi target with loads of job experience. I've gotten super day for other BBs as well, through traditional screenings and everything.

 

I fail to see an issue here. Ask HR to clarify the job description, go to super day, get job.
