Invited to UBS AmplifyMe M&A Academy and don't know what to expect

I did well in the initial 1.5 hour M&A simulation doing and I was invited to their 4-hour IB academy where I get a chance to showcase my skills to be added to the IB division of UBS. Granted, it is happening tomorrow but I am not too bad in my modelling skills, so I am not too worried. But I have no clue what to expect from this type of academy and I don't know how to prepare as a top candidate. Anyone that got to this stage have any advice or suggestions on what I should quickly practice or look into for the next 24 hours so I can be added onto the division?

Ah, the UBS AmplifyMe M&A Academy sounds like a prime opportunity to swing from the trees of success! Here's how you can prepare to be the top banana:

  1. Review Financial Modeling: Since you've got a good grip on modeling, a quick review of the basics wouldn't hurt. Make sure you're comfortable with Excel, M&A, 3-statement models, DCF, Comps, and LBOs.

  2. Brush Up on Technical Skills: Go over the key technical concepts in M&A. This includes understanding deal structures, synergies, accretion/dilution analysis, and common deal terms.

  3. Practice Behavioral Questions: You might be a modeling wizard, but don't forget the soft skills. Be ready to discuss your motivation, teamwork experiences, and why you're interested in UBS and M&A.

  4. Know the Current Market: Be up-to-date with the latest M&A deals, especially any recent transactions UBS has been involved in. This shows you're not just technically proficient but also engaged with the industry.

  5. Prepare Succinct Answers: In M&A, being able to communicate complex ideas simply is key. Practice explaining your thought process clearly and concisely.

  6. Get Your Mindset Right: Confidence is key. Go in there knowing you've got the skills and are ready to learn and contribute.

Remember, it's not just about the technical know-how; it's also about showing that you're a good fit for their team. So, let your personality shine through as well!

Good luck, and may your financial modeling be as strong as a gorilla and as sharp as an eagle's eyesight!

Hey! I hope the simulation went well! I noticed your post about it, and it caught my interest. I'm curious to learn more about the simulation. Could you share some highlights or key takeaways? Also, if you have any tips or insights based on your experience, I'd love to hear them. Thank you!
