Is ER experience an asset for an M&A resume?
Hi, I work in M&A in a regional boutique but have also been given the chance to do some ER-work on the side. I was wondering if this would be viewed upon favourably on a resume when your medium-term goal is M&A or if this would come across as less focused and would hurt your resume versus 100% M&A-oriented resumes? I would appreciate it if you have some thoughts!

My only question is how can you do both at the same time? I understand you're at a regional boutique but surely even they will deal with large strategics from time to time?
I’m not sure how Nofap would get in the way of dealing with larger strategics
As far as I know ER and M&A projects are handled by different people whenever there is any link between the two and these people also do not interact (not even off the record) with each other about these projects, but nevertheless the regulatory topic raised is a good point.
No, stay strictly in M&A. If you want to get to a larger bank you need as many reps as possible, and you don't want any questions about whether you were really in M&A or not, or why you were doing some ER work. It's pretty different tasks and I don't think you'd gain much that an M&A group would be looking for.
Also, fyi this is a huge regulatory problem so I'd avoid it from that angle as well. IB and ER legally aren't even allowed to interact without a whole process to bring someone "over the wall" - look up the Chinese Wall
