Is IB worth it?

I’m applying to college this year and I haven’t decided my career path. I’m deciding between IB(finance),engineering, and medicine. Is IB worth it? How’s the hours, is there any job satisfaction, and how often do you interact with others.

lmao just read around on this website, but I will do my best to break it down for you.

- hours: average of 80 for most firms (can range from 60 to 100 hours a week depending on how busy the team is and how good deal flow is).

- job satisfaction: most people say not really, it is basically the same thing over and over again and you are working so many hours that you would rather be a fast food employee

interaction: team dependent, but I would say more than sales and trading (u sit in ur cubicle for the most part unless you have questions or in a meeting)

If I were to get a degree in finance at NYU,for example, what career in your opinion provides good pay, moderate hours 50-70, and job satisfaction? I’ve always been a fan of numbers and business in general but I hear so many negative things about the career paths.

I am no expert here but this is my tow cents. I am only a college student that secured am IB summer internship so not as much color here. I would say Sales and Trading works a bit less than IB and ik someone personally who works in trading. Pulled in 1M last year in total compensation but he hates it. Look into sales and trading if interested. you can also pm me if you are more interested. NYU is a great school as well so your opportunities will be much better comparing to a non target school.
