Is It Possible To Get Back To High Finance?
Burned out in a sweaty group after a year in IB and switched over to a corporate role afterwards. Would it still be possible to apply for buyside roles to make a switch back? Not looking at MFs or any of the most selective places but would like to get into an investing capacity and not sure if its too late now that I am in corporate, even if I have IB experience from before?
following
Possibility to get into an investing role that is related to your Corp fin industry. It’s going to be a 1/100 chance that a firm is willing to take you over someone with relevant IBD experience.
I understand its a more roundabout way for me, but would me having IB experience be counted at all?
It is a qualifier of your intelligence as well as that you at least had SOME formal finance training. The year is a red flag but yes - your IB experience counts and will differentiate you from the other Corp finners without an IB. All depends on what you have been doing at your Corp fin role. I am in what some would consider a Corp fin role. But it is really a private equity job which has allowed me to have significant optionality with what I do in the future. Not all CF jobs are the same.
Following. Have a corp dev / strat associate offer that I'm considering taking after 9 months in IB but worried about closing door to buyside opps if it's not a great fit
