I assume they're being deleted for liability reasons. They name very specific people and don't have any proof of their accusations. Not to say that the accusations aren't real, just that WSO can't assume that every potentailly libelous accusation published here is real. They don't have a way to tell the difference between what is credible and what isn't.

The leak here should have been [Person A] and [Person B] etc. People would have been able to figure it out pretty easily.

WallStreetOasis.com, what's your opinion? Comment below:

hey, this thread is still up as are several others on the topic.  I'm reviewing what my mod team did yesterday, but I suspect certain threads/content was removed because it contained specific names and/or offensive content (from what I've seen so far) - and most of it was coming from brand new members.

When I came across this late last night I even saw someone saying/implying on Twitter that the CEO of Jefferies is somehow close with WSO.  This is not true -- I've never even spoken with him in my life.

I understand the importance of WSO allowing certain topics / situations to be exposed for what they are, however, we must also try and be as balanced as possible and not allow names (from non-public figures) and accusations be posted all over our boards.  We have no journalists on staff and don't have the resources / media team to go do proper fact checking, so we have to rely on our members (ideally certified) to verify certain situations.

Please be patient as I look through everything.

Thank you,

Patrick

Allegations in the email are way too detailed to have been completely made up. Wouldn't be surprised at all if the email is true, but also the allegations are serious to the point that any lack of confirmation gets pretty close to libel.

There are probably grains of truth to it but it's also written entirely in a single voice and that voice sounds kinda like a schizo facebook rant. Have you ever read a rant by someone with mental health problems who thinks the post office is gang stalking them? Those get pretty specific too. And someone here also said that the e-mail was sent around but the name list (presented as signatories) had a bunch of people who didn't know what this was about.

Point being, who knows. Could be totally legit, totally fake, somewhere in between. Hopefully we will find out the truth.

Agreed that that email would have better served the cause if it was written more professionally and directly vs the emotionally ramble it was, buttttt think it's pretty clear that something is fishy at Jeffries

Curious was it sent only to M&A or was it a firm-wide blast? Also, any indication that the higher-ups are going to address the concerns one way or another?

Can't confirm the validity of the email but wouldn't be surprised as an ex-Jefferies employee. A lot of the groups and seniors in NYC are very toxic, and Handler does not care as long as the seniors bring in fees. No one should be surprised that the culture at Jefferies is still like this, considering that that the IB franchise was built by someone like Lorello.

follow up email circulated

As predicted, John Huwiler forced Jefferies to delete and wipe all emails, responses, support and forwards related to this morning's email so that employee has any evidence of any wrong doing or complaints.

Also as predicted, he fired a 1st year Associate today, who was part of the brave group to speak up, bad timing bad optics and arrogant pride from John Huwiler.

Everyone has the RIGHT to free speech and to work in a non-hostile, uncensored, normal workplace.

Physical copies of the questionaire will be at your desks soon. Printing room also has copies for your protection. Audio tapes and chat logs will be released soon.

As for next John Huwiler steps, he will dodge all of the questions and will continue to bully and threaten anyone who stands up against this until you are fired or gone. Then the toxic culture will continue. No more.

Looks like WSO is being paid to delete anything related to it. There is confirmation of the leaked stuff from John Huwiler saying these accusations being deleted online. Let's see how long this comment lasts before a MOD removes it.

yeah, this is false.  although since we've been doing this for 16 years and had similar situations many times before, I expect to be contacted likely before end of today.  I left a comment in this thread: https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forum/investment-banking/the-situation-with-rich-handler-and-jeff

NOTHING has been done for the past 10 and the past 24 hours proves how PERSON H and Jefferies handle sexual harassment and a toxic workplace, just fire, censor, block, ignore and purge everyone and every media outlet to cover it up.

The call to action is to STOP the censorship, let people speak up publicly and privately and for Jefferies to do something! at least acknowlege the questions instead of hiding it.

Thanks to the 6 individuals still in the group that have spoken up publicly and privately and the many many more across the industry trying to push through this censorship for us to have a voice!

This is fucked up man. These guys are real scumbags. This is what happens when a bunch of socially awkward losers are given positions of power over women. They treat any interaction with a female as an opportunity to romanticize them.

I'm as anti-woke as they come but I would never advise a woman to work at a place that has very few female seniors for reasons such as this.

Unhinged email that comes off worse than a 12 year old ranting(being serious).  The person sounds mentally ill.

I'm not defending  jefferies.  I think that place is a total clown show(have thought for years).  But none of this surprises me (both the fact that there's some inappropriate seniors and that their junior analysts write emails that come across like your unhinged aunt on Facebook ranting about vaccines).  Just a total clownshow firm.

Can't the whistleblower who was fired seek legal action for firing against retaliation? I hope this doesn't get brushed under the rug but it seems more than likely to happen unless this gets more widespread coverage.

Not trying to justify or excuse the alleged actions of the seniors at all, but how are people so surprised? Jefferies NY, especially the HC and M&A groups, has been known to have exceptionally rough culture and a number of seniors with unscrupulous reputations since forever. Personally, the most surprising takeaway on this thread is that people have really short memories for that the prospects/juniors on WSO have really bought Handler's kool-aid. Jefferies doesn't have the greatest reputation among seniors at other firms for a reason.
