JHB Search

Has anyone ever received any interviews from this HH firm? They always claim to be recruiting for very reputable firms (like the Tiger Cubs, DE Shaw etc) and demand your resume and once they receive it, they ghost you hard. Do they take your resume information and sell it to China like Mercury Partners?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, it's not uncommon to hear about mixed experiences with headhunters, and it seems like you've had a less than stellar interaction with JHB Search. While I can't speak to the specific practices of JHB Search or the allegations about selling information, I can offer some general advice on dealing with headhunters:

  • Research the Firm: Before engaging with a headhunter, do some due diligence. Check their reputation on forums like Wall Street Oasis, see if there are any reviews or testimonials from other candidates, and look at the types of roles they typically fill.

  • Professionalism: Always maintain a professional demeanor when interacting with headhunters, even if you feel they're not providing the best service. This helps preserve your reputation in the industry.

  • Follow-Up: If you feel you've been ghosted, it's appropriate to follow up with a polite email or call. Sometimes things fall through the cracks, and a nudge can put you back on their radar.

  • Protect Your Information: Be cautious with your personal information. If you're concerned about privacy, you can limit the details you provide until you're more confident in the headhunter's legitimacy.

  • Networking: Sometimes, getting a warm introduction to a headhunter from a colleague or peer can lead to a more responsive relationship.

  • Diversify Your Options: Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Work with multiple headhunters and apply to firms directly when possible.

Remember, while headhunters can be a valuable resource in your job search, they are motivated by placing candidates and earning their commission. Your job search should be multifaceted, including networking, applying directly to firms, and possibly engaging with multiple headhunters.

If you're referring to a previous discussion or thread about JHB Search on Wall Street Oasis, could you provide more details or clarify your question? That way, I can give you a more tailored response.
