As for technicals, I've never heard of anyone getting asked them during a regular networking call (but I guess anything is possible?). FWIW when in the normal interview process M&A and M&C have been known to ask more than others.
You should always expect some sort of technical questions when on networking calls unless you are perhaps a freshman. While it's not guaranteed you will get them, it is an easy way for an analyst or associate to filter out who is serious and who isn't.
I can confirm that the M&A group asks technical questions.
