Congrats! Starting in corpfin/ib right?

take a look at your interests. Would you rather be in a coverage or product group. Is there a specific industry or product that you absolutely love. Last year at this time, Lev Fin (SLF), Financial Sponsors and Structured products were THE place to be. Now, things have changed. Don't base your decision on where are the best exit ops, base your decision on the fit of your group.

It may be too early to start reaching out to groups, but over the christmas break, or in the spring semester, you might want to start networking and seeing what group you'll fit in to the best. You should also get more info a bit later too.

Best Response

M&A is one of the best groups, clearly. Ranked 4th US and Worldwide. Very nice group, lots of deals and exposure. Also, Industrials are good, as are Sponsors. Of course, Lev Fin was the best group on the street in that department, but have had cuts and probably not hiring now. CHR is also very good, but Healthcare hours suck. TMT group is pretty good as well. Honestly, can't really go wrong with any, just stay away from LevFin, ABS Conduits, Debt Private Placements and Structured Products group, at least for now.
