That’s something you have to decide from your convo, FIG and m&c hours are brutal, however they have good people, tech also has good people and can vary on hours but would say the hours are brutal if things aren’t slow.
Have had trouble connecting with Tech team, only talked with a couple people, they seem slow to respond. Which is weird because I feel like I've hit it off well in the calls I've had. Maybe they just don't like me and I'm not reading the room well? Lol.
Curious to hear if OP or anyone else has been able to have a bunch of calls with the group, or in if in same position as me.
When I recruited the group wouldn't have associates, there was an acknowledgement that there would be no A2A promotions. FSG placed fairly well in terms of exits because seniors would support your application. Not sure what the group structure looks like now but I would take FSG over many other choices.
Do analysts in the FSG group focus on a certain industry/sector? Saw a posting for "FSG - Infrastructure" and was curious as I thought FSG was typically a generalist role.
Good exits from FIG and M&C. FIG might pigeonhole you into FIG only exits though and it's massive with 20+ interns. M&C is really brutal on the hours, sweatier than FIG.
Tech NY is a smaller group and isn't very technical. Exits aren't as good as the above two but hours are definitely better.
Do not do CRB, also heard their intern return rate was below 50% last summer.
I would advise you to rank the groups based on how receptive the people you speak to are.
Note that FIG has often had a large headcount in previous years so the difficulty of landing an offer is deceptive because many candidates may try to rank FIG as their top choice if they feel it improves their odds of an offer.
FIG always takes the most interns, last year I believe they gave out returns to most, I would say 60-80 percent return. To the poster of the comment did you work at JPM previously had couple of questions as a incoming full time
I have to say. A few groups ignored emails after a few phone calls (even tho they went great) even though they said they’d be happy to make introductions. Honestly, I think it would be better if they replied to emails and actually let the candidates know that they should explore other groups.
How likely is it to get your number 1 choice if the intern sponsor also tells you the same? Also how does the matching system work? Is it actually an algorithm that spits out results or is it basically number ones match and the rest is a crapshoot?
The intern sponsors rank every single intern. If you rank a group 1 and they rank you in the top every many spots that group has, you’ll probably get that group (assuming the team actually put you down as a favorite)

Avoid CRB at all cost. Terrible culture and deal flow. Also the return rate last year was below 50%.
bye good to know can you elaborate more
If you want general good exits m&c, tech, if you want fig related exits choose fig
Lol I hopped on one call with CRB and they ghosted me. I dont have that much liberty of choice here
how many interns did CRB have last summer?
Not a lot similar to this year avoid the group not a good culture
Avoid CRB, M&C should be top of the list with tech and fig following
how would you rank them in terms of culture? tysm!!

How about their M&A group?
Interested as well.
im in tmt - prob silent bc we are all planning our escape
Thoughts on FSG?

FYI they have associates now and do promote A2A. Difficult to make it to VP+ however. Great culture.

I've been thoroughly disappointed with how little enthusiasm the people I've spoken with have shown.
They either don't respond to my outreach email or when I hop on call they're emotionless/indifferent it's embarrassing.
Which group???
That’s the reality of this job man
Analysts aren’t Hr. They don’t need to put on a smiling face and advertise the firm to prospects.
Finally my people. I feel like we all have the same top choices lol

The M&C analysts I networked with sounded like they were on constantly on the verge of breaking down.
FIG hours depend on the sub team, it’s not sweaty across the whole group
How would you rank the subgroups within FIG for culture and hours? Are they all fairly active during this slower deal environment?
My&C has a great junior team, but offer rate last year was like 40%
Huh no it wasn’t for nyc
Def not true. 8/11 got offers
You‘re talking NY right?
I would advise you to rank the groups based on how receptive the people you speak to are.

Thoughts on Diversified Industries? Do they take non targets? How is the culture in the group?
What about Healthcare?
Top group at JPM hard group to get into
the most brutal hours, do not do if you want a life. intern buddy went home at like 5am and back in the office at 10
Every group at JPM is brutal so like idk what you on about, healthcare is a top group so obviously the hours are going to be brutal

yea idk how to put it nicely but if you get ghosted that means they dont want you anymore
Anyone hear back yet from M&A on second round?
I didn't get into the process but many friends did. None heard back
Still nothing for everyone on M&A?
Some friends heard back if they got in R2
Anyone heard back from tech about final rankings yet?
Yeah!

Anyone know when we can expect to hear back about our official placement?
27th
Of Feb or march?
Did anyone else’s group placement get messed up? like they put a group first and the group said they put them first, but didn’t work out?
Not for me. Got first pick. Which pick did you end up getting? Within top 3?
nah got messed up not top 3 so weird
Non/semi target (for anonymity) here, got fucked for group placement.
Not surprised since all the people I spoke with were target.
what happened? was it just a bad situation or did something go wrong
