JPM HC Culture
What is the culture like at JPM HC in NY and SF? Recently saw a post that they've been losing some juniors who lateraled elsewhere.

Work at JPM in another group. I've heard HC has a great culture, though of course hours are rough (probably the case with all HC groups across the street though tbh). Considered the best group in our bank along with M&A.

Was wonders What’s the return rate looking like for incoming summer analyst at NYC for coverage groups
Think about it like if you decided to go running at noon on a summer day with a jacket on.
The group has one of the best, if not the best, culture at JPM. Most sought-after group along with M&A.
i mean it's a top group on the street but you get absolutely wrecked hours wise, 100 hours+ per week consistently.
Contrary to the above responses my friend who worked there told me they hated it. Very long hours, consistently past midnight on weekdays, and weak social/mentorship culture.
Not quite sure you’d expect as a recently graduated young professional in a job that pays six figures?
Strong groups that have 1) live deals and 2) lead roles on these deals result in high working hours. If you want to leave at 8pm consistently then considdr corporate banking at a japanese bank, not a top industry group at a top tier BB…
My first year as an analyst was consistently 2am+ on weekdays. Some weeks every day leaving at 5-6am, getting out 11pm on Friday was a good outcome, and week-ends were 20hrs in the office on average.
Doesn't matter how good the group is (could be GS TMT) if they're grinding juniors 20 hrs on the weekend consistently, sounds like a shit work culture to me
following
how does the hc group compare with m&a at JPM?
Historically similar exits to PE (mostly MF, a few UMM / MM). Hours should be roughly the same as well. HC has slightly better culture tho
Heard from others that people are nice and culture is relaxed, socially. However, will work you to the bone - absolute sweatshop. If MF PE is the end goal, perhaps go for it. Otherwise, the only person you’ll make happy will be your psychiatrist cashing in on the therapy sessions.
Generally sweaty if you're good, have heard some of the first years are still cruising. Great culture relative to other JPM teams.
Toxic
Long hours, good exits in line with other top BBs and EBs, very large group. Lot of folks left for GS of all places...
So you work at GS HC?
People at JP have pretty nice haircuts, unlike the nerds at Evercore. I literally saw an Evercore analyst get a wedgie from their barber the other day.
