Thanks for clarifying. They made it seem like there was some new edge they had developed.

Any specifics on the tooling you mention? Or do they just mean a closed ended internal MCP for the chat boxes to connect to. Which as you said has been around for some time now.

MCP is gamechanger if you have tokens to burn. Imagine you are in IB and your MD asks you to “find every LNG precedent with Japanese counterparties since 2018” or “surface every internal deck mentioning this sponsor”

You dump it into the LLM, it searches your dealfolders, finds the relevant data and spits it back out. The AI layer combined with private, institutional data makes it wayyy better than the models trained on public info.

Close ended MCP is pretty much a big deal if true. When I was there at JPM last summer the LLMsuite was primitive, but powered by frontier LLMs like ChatGPT.

My main irk was Claude and the likes where so powerful on my personal Mac and could interact with files and apps through MCP and compliance would never allow that stuff. Even using ChatGPT the website was blocked and I had to use it on my phone.

On my personal machine I have used MCP tools to build my own wiki style databases in Obsidian which the model uses as context (Search what the Singapore’s Chief Justice is doing with AI it's similar).

Heading back there this summer for FT, so let's hope its better.
