July GS Summer Analyst application - What to expect

As above, what is a day to day work schedule for a summer analyst? Do i have to master Excel and Power Point for said job? Will networking and cold emailing help if i apply through the website? I have some doubts regarding the application process, specially if it really makes a difference whether i apply in the first period or second, does it really mater?

Also, what skill(s) would you recommend to focus the most when it comes to a SA program? Let me know what you think

There are a million threads on all of these topics, do a search.

Talking just about the application, yes, you need to be networking a lot to have a chance. Very few people ever hear back from applying just through the website, especially if you're not a standout candidate (go to Harvard/Wharton etc with a 3.9).

It doesn't really matter when you apply, but I wouldn't wait until the last day because applications are on a rolling basis and they fill spots quickly. However, if you need to wait until the second period because you're getting your network/resume/interview skills in order that is fine.
