Junior at US Semi-Target Looking to Recruit for IB/PE in Australia

Family’s in Australia and won’t be needing sponsorship from AU - was wondering if anyone could share any insights on recruiting timeline, headcount, tips, how to reach out, whether networking is required etc.?

I used to watch Love Island Australia years ago. I remember there was this one girl who went by pumpkin pie.

In terms of recruiting timeline for IB, in AUS this is typically split into winter and summer recruiting.

Winter recruiting occurs through a mix of both BB firms like JPM, MacCap (STEM/Women's only) and also boutiques like Jeffries and Stanton Road. Applications open up during Jan-March, depending on the firm. Headcount would also vary, but I would expect 5 people for the BBs that run a winter program, and probably 1-2 for boutiques.

Summer recruiting is pretty standardised. Most banks will follow the interbank agreement, where interviews occur at the start of August. Boutiques may stray from this and begin their initial screening calls either earlier (start of July) and this can also span up to end of August/beginning of September. Once again headcount varies depending on the firm, I would guess BBs take around ~10 with boutiques taking anywhere from 1-5. I believe Moelis this year had quite a big cohort that was more on par with the BB intake.
