Junior Harassment, Bullying, Hostile, Sexualized Culture from the "JOHNS" Huwiler Saulitis

No more comments about my dress, legs, hair, tits, no more behind the scene comments about what i can give, no more cursing, bullying, harassment and screw jobs on what deals I'm staffed on, promotions, bonuses etc. in exchange for my dignity! 


Much has been said, but its time for the people who are complaining at Jefferies to leave. This will not be resolved through their HR or Legal team as indicated over the past 10 years and what they've done the past week with censorship, wiping of e-mails, wiping of complaints, and even fake twitter accounts commenting on Handler's tweets calling hte complaints fake before being deleted (as captured by mark moran and others). Even Handler's latest tweets is attempt to cover up the mess in the M&A group by making it seem everyone wants to work there? Odd strategy.

Wiped e-mails, wiped complaints to HR, blocked media outlets, censorship on the internet, questionable twitter response from Rich and even fake twitter accounts disputing the complaints (see mark moran's twitter showing screenshots of fake users defending behavior of the Johns before being deleted). This is the playbook, straight to the top despite even more detailed complaints coming out from others.


Reminder, HR is acting in the best interest of Jefferies. Jefferies legal and external counsel is acting in the best interest of Jefferies. Any "independent" investigation is acting in the best interest of Jefferies. To act in your best interest, hire a professional counsel/team or don't say anything, collect your bonus and just leave.


It's unfortunate particularly if you think about what value add John Huwiler actually brings? Coverage brings us the deals, and most importantly it's most of our MD group, chosen throughout the other firms on wall street by Lorello (not Huwiler) who have made this group good (but can be great without this hostile fear driven sexulaized culture by the "Johns")


Sorry the firm will not take any corrective actions on the Johns, but you have control in your own life and you will and can do much better.

JEF CEO (who i admired and met during my internship / reason i joined for the culture) addressed this on Twitter but his words / intent seems way off base? Besides playing down prior complaints/cases, he blamed the victims in our group for going to the public? Disappointed in the lack of care as the emails sent by the junior staff was done so internally expressing their horrible experiences and numerous complaints over the decade through "proper channels" as Rich would put it with HR, Legal, Staffers, Management and the Global Head of M&A himself [Person HUWILER] yet nothing was done.....

Given the growing number of whistleblowers and flood of new info along with censorship by Jefferies and several media outlets for whatever reason (WSO please be a voice of the victims), we are aggregating all of the prior & latest information provided (and deleted so far) for the record. Please contribute if you are or were in the group today.

Confirmed:

-Over a dozen complaints have been raised and escalated to Managers, Staffers and HRs over the past year alone, in regards to inappropriate and lewd behavior, comments and actions by [Person HUWILER] and [Person SAULITIS] discussing appearances of females, minorities and sexual body parts of themselves in graphic and inappropriate detail to the junior staff in the office and at happy hours.

-[Person SAULITIS] was previouslypushed out his prior coverage groupat Jefferies due to harassment and inappropriate behavior

-[Person SAULITIS] has had over a dozen complaints over the past 5 years due to behavior and language including 

-[Person SAULITIS]  was reported to prior staffers, HR and Legal due to inappropriate behavior

-[Person HUWILER ] who is the Global Head of M&A hired [Person SAULITIS] despite knowledge of sexual and harassing behavior as an Associate

-[Person HUWILER] did not proceed with any corrective actions after numerous complaint over the course of multiple years and staffers about [PERSON SAULITIS]

-HR and Jefferies hired external legal counsel conducted an investigation~2 years ago in regards to sexual and hostile behavior above with every single female in the M&A team.No corrective action was made despite 2 female analyst who spoke up and later quit (despite promotions) because of their experience by [PERSON SAULITIS] and [PERSON HUWILER] and no action or follow up by the firm after the interviews 

-HR and Jefferies legal conducted an investigation 1 year in regards to similar sexually charged hostile behavior and comments with [PERSON SAULITIS], no corrective action was madedespite the Analyst specifically detailing all of the actions and comments made in written journal of which that person read to HR, Legal and Management

-[Person HUWILER] was fully aware of all complaints above and did not address any junior person about the incident, or the broader team nor take any corrective action

-[Person SAULITIS] bragged about being the "big swinging D"and [Person SAULITIS] being "papa swinging D" and thatboth of them were "untouchable" as they brought in the most fees

-[Person HUWILER] left the July 2022 M&A summer party within a few minutes of his arrival (after a 2 hour car drive) after the team's bus arrival at the house afterone of the female analysts encountered him and felt uncomfortable with his presence 

-[Person HUWILER] promoted [Person SAULITIS] as MD although not officially announced yet),despite everything above

-[Person HUWILER] did not promote the 2 other SVPs who were previously staffers that raised the same concerns as above to [Person HUWILER]  and HR numerous times 

-There are 11 M&A MDs led by [Person HUWILER] who hired 10 of them who all are male and white. 

-0 female MDs

-0 female SVPs

-0 female VPs

-A 1st year Associate, (Person P) was just fired 2 days ago (same day as whisteblower email) without cause, the only person in the M&A team (Dec) to be let go and one of the juniors who raised concerns & complaints to his deal team leaders, VPs and Staffer multiple times

-A 1st year Analyst (Person A) was fired 2 months ago without cause, the only person in the M&A team (Aug) at that time to be let go, and one of the juniors who raised concerns about [Person HUWILER]

-A 2nd year Assocate (Person A) was fired 3 months ago without cause, the only person in the group at the 

-[Person HUWILER]has been working overtime with Jefferies toremove, delete and wipe any complaint in our JEF e-mails and public communication outlets.No one at Jefferies can see any of the e-mails that we were previously sent and they are completely wiped from their outlook?The same content has been removed and blocked on WSO, Twitter, etc. andJefferies has sent notices to media outlets to hide these complaints

Questions

-[Person HUWILER] or [Person SAULITIS] has been known to be dating one of the senior leaders in HR, and have said they've been told well in "advance of complaints before they even get anywhere" and gets "squashed"

-Why does [Person SAULITIS] have his name scrubbed across google and the internet? Was it related to prior inappropriate behavior and incidents that have occured in the past similar to [Person SAULITIS]  who he continues to support and push up the ranks?

-Why has [Person HUWILER] not done anything at least in the past 10 years given the behavior and complaints brought to him about [Person SAULITIS] 

-Why did [Person HUWILER] push and make [Person SAULITIS] Managing Director vs. the other 2 more qualified SVPs who both went to business school, ivy league schools, Harvard JD, Rhodes Scholar, prior bulge bracket experience, prior staffers, but happen to both be minorities and did

-Similar to what [Person SAULITIS]  said about himself to a group of Analysts, is it true [Person HUWILER]  is considered "untouchable" as he has told his closest peers he basically "built Jefferies 20+ years ago" and that Rich would "never let him go"

Still a very awkward (and fearful) feeling across our floor particularly as we await comp day next week (forewarned this morning by Handler) and our holiday party (where all of the complaints will once again be brushed under the rug as grievances around comp or drinking). 

We're also told we legally cannot speak to any media outlet or publicly state our grievences on social media. As for the juniors that were fired or quit because of the above, they continue to be anonymous as they can not speak per the seperation agreement they signed with Jefferies (kind of by force or you don't get severance despite already not receiving get a bonus at all or any vaction days paid out).

Door seems to be opening now and more juniors in the Jefferies M&A group are coming out which be the force to STOP this hostile, sexual, male-ego driven workplace environment driven by [Person HUWILER]
