Just started, not staffed on shit?

Whatsup guys. Just started at a MM. Took my S79 a day later than the rest of my class and have not been staffed on anything while at least multiple of my classmates have been staffed on things. Staffer told us he would hit us with assignments soon and to sit tight but to enjoy the free time. I do want to enjoy having time off before the grind starts but also do not want it to look bad I'm not doing anything (although I'm wfh so cant really "look" bad). I also want to avoid getting staffed last minute on Friday and having a ton of work over the weekend but if that is what is required, that is what is required (I signed up for this). Should I reach out to get staffed on something or just chill and wait?
