LA IB - Best way to commute without a car during SA
Hello LA gorillas. Coming from East coast school. My office is in Century City and I found a place in Westwood for my SA. Don't have a car. What's the best way to commute for the next 9 weeks?

Found myself on this board by accident. Interned in LA as summer analyst in 2016, lived in Westwood at some UCLA kids apt and Ubered in. You can try Lyft pool if it’s around. You might be able to take a bus but when I was a summer the extra sleep was well worth it. Remember you only have pay Uber one way, you probably will be able to expense an Uber at night.
Thanks! I'm not really looking to buy or rent a car for 9 weeks so I guess this is the most realistic option
There really isn’t a cheaper option unless you want to ride a scooter to work which is not feasible in the LA heat ahead of work. Westwood to century city was like $20 if I remember correctly. For 9 weeks in LA after NY training you’ll pay 20 * 5 * 9 = 900. Weekend ubers are usually covered both ways. Even if you got a car for free you’ll have to pay parking in century city which was like $300 a month for parking permit in my building at least. So my $900 over 3 months for a parking permit is the same as Uber. If you are 100k prorated this summer you really aren’t hurting.
I am from LA/Southern California. Moved away, but worked in various FiDi locations and in downtown, ask away.
for that distance:
scooter is about 20 mins
ebike is about 15 mins
walking: not walkable
public transport: IMO, not possible without inconvenience
I would buy a scooter if you have the ability to store it at the office, if not maybe create a spreadsheet and see how much it would cost to rent them on to go.
You mean electronic ones right? Or a motorcycle?
Yes, meant electric scooters. Bird, Lime, Lyft and Spin are the biggest in LA.
But in the long run they are quite expensive to rent, break even is very fast for these companies (hence the abundance nature of scooters everywhere).
Would be cheaper to buy one for such a long time and then just sell it afterwards.

Currently a SA in LA. Many analysts at my firm including myself are commuting from the Westwood area to Century City via Uber every morning. 100% doable.
how much does the typical uber ride cost? how do you commute on the weekends?
