What some organizations might do is re-image your laptop with the company image. It would essentially be like receiving a company laptop only yours would have different specs.

If this were the case you would be able to connect to the network by simply plugging in a Category-5 cable (aka Ethernet cable).

you'll probably want to have a personal computer. i'm a tech guy by training (worked for google, engineering bg, etc) and i can guarantee that any decent bank's IT department will have your company laptop's network connection go through the bank's intranet via a vpn (or at least a proxy).

What that means is that the bank can see what you browse, even from home, because it passes through them. Unless you have no problem letting your work know every site you ever go to, every email you ever receive, every conversation you ever have, get a personal computer.
