Lateral Analyst Offer Letter - Bonus
Hi everyone,
I was fortunate enough to get an offer to move to a top BB. My current firm compensates bonuses on a end of year basis, so I will be missing out on about ~6 months worth of bonus. The new firm agreed to compensate for this when I join as they will be compensated on the mid-year cycle. However HR has indicated it is not willing to state the figure black and white on the contract and can only offer a verbal target figure.
I was wondering if this was a standard practice and if anyone else has had a similar experience?
I would think this should be part of your signing bonus. There are tons of stories of kids getting screwed by things like this. If it is not in writing, you may not get it. I recall a post not too long ago about a guy who was promised an extra 10k or so to stay a little longer in his position before moving to buyside...needless to say he never got the money that was verbally promised.
