Depends. I've seen it as we'll give you a full year bonus but no signing or pro rate your bonus and give you a signing.
so more of a make-whole as opposed to an actual sign on
bumping this. Anyone have more experience negotiating a sign on bonus as an experienced Associate? Lots of demand for Associate 2 and sometimes 3s - trying to figure out if I ask for say $75k they will laugh or actually go for something high. Not those $10k MBA sign on small bonuses.
MBA sign-on bonuses are $50-70k. Analysts get $10k.

$75k is a bit egregious, but $25-$40k is a reasonable ballpark range IMO. Also totally reasonable to ask for full year bonus and cash payment of any deferred comp you currently have (deferred bonus, unvested 401k, etc.). These latter two are really just making you whole.
