Lateral from No-Name Middle Market to BB/EB?
Senior in college without a return offer. Given the difficult hiring market, the only options I've seen are to recruit at a middle market firm without much brand recognition (think ~50 person shops like Merisow, D.A. Davidson, Livingstone, etc).
If the market improves, how difficult will it be to lateral from a small 50 person shop to a more reputable bank a year later?
Bump.

Following, brutal out there.
Would be tough esp in this market.
What MM is considered a lesser name? Throw some ball park names.
Places like Livingstone, Merisow, D.A. Davidson. In Charlotte, Atlanta, etc. These aren’t the Harris Williams, Baird’s, and Blair’s of the world when it comes to middle market
I did it, It is absolutely doable if you have a good personality and know your stuff.
Fwiw there was a guy I know from an SEC school (Arkansas, Mississippi State, South Carolina) we went to HS together.
He started at DA Davidson —> GS —> now at Centerview. Kid was insanely sharp though. So it’s definitely possible, but a massive deal making market benefited him tons.
Was he diversity? If not that’s super impressive
