Lateraling from one group to another, same bank
I'm currently a senior associate in a capital markets group at a BB IB. I started my career at a different bank in IB, moved to the buy-side for ~2.5yrs then returned back to banking for a variety of reasons. I'd like to stay in banking and ideally at the same bank. My group is going through some restructuring and also think my growth is plateauing. I'd like to try and lateral to another group in the bank (don't mind being a senior associate another year). Below are potential options:
• ECM, sector specific coverage • M&A • Coverage, likely a diversified group but potentially sector specific
Curious if anyone has anecdotes on the above. Also wondering how likely it is I will be able to lateral in at my same level given I haven't worked in these groups before. My motivation is I'd like to expand my skill set and think I have it in me to be a career banker. So trying to balance those two. Share
