I've been giving thought to lateralling to a different bank, as my regional boutique isn't much of a target for any PE firms outside of LMM. Is it common (right word?) for people to stay at their bank for a year, lateral, and then only stay at their new bank for one year before leaving for new PE job? I don't want to spend a third year in IB, but I also don't want to miss out on recruiting for bigger PE firms.
